2010 Recipient
Brittany is a caring and compassionate young lady who recently graduated from Chatham High School. She is very involved in her church and has been involved in many groups over the past five years that make a concrete difference in the daily lives of members of her community. She is a member of Faith in Action, a group that cooks and delivers meals to the disenfranchised within her community. Every other week she performs in a band called Uncommon Worship. This band performs at a more relaxed church service where children are invited to join in and participate. She visited Mississippi and Louisiana shortly after Hurricane Katrina to aid in the clean-up efforts. Brittany states that this trip really sparked a need for service inside of her and she looks forward to returning to this area during college. Brittany is also proud of organizing a fundraiser event called No Prom for the Homeless. This was a dress down event that raised money for the organization, Homeless Not Hopeless, Inc., which helps people get back on their feet. Brittany’s caring spirit and drive to make a difference make her a Mark Bavis Leadership Scholarship recipient. We wish her luck in her future pursuits as she attends Wheelock College in the Fall.
