2020 Recipient
Jeremiah is a determined and respectful young man who is making an impact on his community. While participating in several school clubs and initiatives, he ensures that all students’ voices are heard. As a founding member of his school’s Spanish Cultural Club, Editor-in-Chief of his school paper, and Teen Director of Project Next Generation.com (PNG), he has brought attention to current social justice issues and fights to make sure all experiences are represented and validated.
Jeremiah’s passion for civics and volunteerism has led him to create free leadership workshops for middle and high school students. He challenges his peers to get engaged and give back to their communities. One of Jeremiah’s favorite service opportunities is participating in Operation Flags for Veterans at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. Twice a year, along with other PNG students, he honors veterans, by placing flags by their gravestones. This has special meaning to Jeremiah as his grandfather, a WW II and Korean War veteran, is laid to rest there. We applaud Jeremiah’s interest in public service and are honored to grant him a Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation Scholarship. We wish him the best as he continues his studies at Harvard University.
