2010 Recipient
Katherine is a spirited go getter. As a middle school student she organized a fundraising effort to raise $10,000 to restore the sports programs to her school. Throughout her high school career she has excelled in both sports and the arts while remaining committed to academics. She seeks out leadership roles and always tries to represent her school and self in a positive way. As a member of the Student Council, Key Club and National Honor Society, Katherine has led by example, stressing the importance of these organizations to area legislators and explaining why they shouldn’t be cut from the budget.
She is an active member of her community, working as a referee and lifeguard for the Greenfield Recreation department. Recently her mom and sister joined Katherine in her efforts and made Thanksgiving Day a little more special by delivering food baskets to approximately 115 families in need. We are honored to award Katherine a Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation Scholarship and wish her the best in her pursuits at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
