Project Description
Elizabeth Mickens
Elizabeth is a strong, kind, and resilient individual who naturally brings people together as an active member of her school and community. For the last four years, she has participated in Project Coach as a coach, tutor and mentor. Based in Springfield, the program partners with Smith College students to train high schoolers to coach and mentor younger students. Elizabeth worked with middle school students citywide creating opportunities to have fun while practicing habits of health and wellness.
Another organization Elizabeth is involved with is 18 Degrees: Women of Color. This program aims to create entrepreneurship opportunities for young women of color while encouraging a safe, healthy, and economically prosperous community with racial and gender equity. The mission of the organization is to “meet people where they are and see the promise in them.”
The Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation applauds Elizabeth’s efforts and wishes her the best as she continues her studies at Bard College.
