Ria Vyas

Ria was taught at a young age that giving is greater than receiving. As an active member of her school and temple community, she strives to live the temple’s motto “In the joy of others lies our own”. Ria has coupled her spirit of giving with various leadership roles. As secretary of her high school’s neuroscience club, she assisted with planning fundraisers, scheduling guest speakers, and planning fun and engaging activities, ultimately significantly increasing the club’s membership.

Ria is also a youth mentor at her temple. She counsels a group of twenty middle school girls, creating and presenting engaging activities related to their Hindu religion, culture, and history. In addition, Ria plans to work in the medical field and has even presented and published her reasearch via the American Academy of Optometry.

The Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation is thrilled to award Ria a scholarship and wishes her the best as she continues her studies at Northeastern University.
