Sophia Schoonover

Sophia has been active in many extracurricular sports and clubs. Volleyball, Track, Student Government, Student Advisory Committee, DECA, Big Buddy, Peer Leadership, Anti-Bullying Coalition and Girl Up. Sophia stands out for her efforts working on an important issue, period poverty. This is an issue that effects young women all over the world. Sophia has spent the year meeting with mentors, teachers, her principal and state representatives. She has worked hard to empower young women at Somerset Berkley High School by working to install dispensers throughout the girl’s bathrooms so girls can feel more comfortable in the school community and to prevent any inconveniences or disadvantages that girls have to face that men simply don’t. Sophia will be attending Stonehill College in the fall.
